Todd Carmichael for virtual Secrets From the C-Suite Presented by Comcast Business

It’s been seven weeks since Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney issued a stay-at-home order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. Once the directive took effect, life as we knew it in Philadelphia became drastically different. Businesses were deemed either essential or non-essential, and some workers were moved to the front lines to continue providing vital services. For many businesses, the adjustment hasn’t been easy — the coronavirus economy has translated to shuttered stores, mounting layoffs, and bankruptcy.

For local coffee empire La Colombe, the spread of COVID-19 called for many immediate strategy adjustments, starting with to-go only services at cafes to eventually temporarily closing all stores. Now, the company continues to sell coffee online and through retail partners, while launching campaigns that let consumers brew coffee “at home with La Colombe.”

On Thursday May 14th, La Colombe co-founder and CEO Todd Carmichael will join me in live conversation for Philadelphia magazine’s first virtual Secrets From the C-Suite Presented by Comcast Business event. Carmichael will speak to the biggest decisions he’s had to make amid the pandemic, taking us through the changes that have come to the coffee chain and how he plans to move the business forward in the coming months. And perhaps most importantly, he’ll maybe show us how to brew the perfect cup of coffee at home.

Carmichael kicks off a three-week series of free live 45-minute discussions that begin at noon. To register for this first event, click here. Be sure to stay tuned as we release the names of the additional guests who will join us during the weeks of May 18th and May 25th.
