Wayne Simmonds Calls Racist Boston Fans “Gutless”

Last night the Washington Capitals knocked the Boston Bruins out of the NHL playoffs. The winning goal was scored by Washington’s Joel Ward. Ward and Philadelphia Flyer Wayne Simmonds are close friends and are both among the 28 black players in the NHL. Some of Boston’s fans reacted more than unfavorably with terribly racist tweets. Today, Simmonds responded to the tweets and called the culprits “gutless.” That’s an understatement. [Philly.com]
