The Bourse Food Hall is Hosting a Free Yoga Series
The artisan marketplace will hold Vinyasa-style classes (with booze afterward!) every Saturday in February.
Philly isn’t hurting for yoga classes in nontraditional venues: You can already do your sun salutations in a greenhouse, at a nature center, and, of course, in breweries. Soon, though, you can get your om on in an even more creative place: a food hall.
Starting February 2nd, the Bourse Food Hall will host a free yoga series titled Sweat & Sip. Trainers from local gym chain Sweat Fitness will take over the atrium of the 19th-century stock/grain/maritime exchange turned trendy food hall from 9 to 10 a.m. each Saturday of the month for Vinyasa-style classes.
As part of the Bourse free yoga series, the marketplace is even throwing in a drink from in-house breakfast joint Grubhouse. Those 21 and older can choose between a Bloody Mary or a mimosa for their post-savasana beverage. And you could always stick around for brunch — you know, since you’re right next to all these awesome vendors already. (If you’ve got enough time to hang around the Bourse until 11 a.m., when Filipino fast-casual eatery Lalo starts serving its belly-warming vegan stew, we’d recommend it. We’re still waiting for Break Juicery to open — but when it does, it’ll be a go-to for juices and açaí bowls. YUM.)
Remember to register as spots are limited, and we all know free classes go quick. Tickets will go online at noon the Monday before each session; you can reserve yours here. Bring a mat, plus a towel and some wipes to clean up after spending your Saturday sweating out your toxins. And don’t worry: If you miss out on Sweat & Sip, the Bourse plans to hold more events in its gorgeous space in the future.
