Fancy Chocolates and Baked Goods Come to Queen Village
Aurora Grace will serve a full menu of pastries, confections, and drinks starting with tomorrow's grand opening.
Over the summer, we told you that Aurora Grace, the chocolate company from pastry chef Aurora Wold, would be going brick and mortar at Fifth and South. And after a soft debut over the holidays, the cafe is officially opens with regular hours tomorrow, Thursday, January 3rd.
The cafe at 517 South 5th Street sells hand painted chocolates (loose or boxed for giving), chocolate bars, French macarons, cookies, pies, scones, and cupcakes. Drinks-wise, they’re serving Rival Bros. coffee, kombucha from Inspired Brews, and house-made hot chocolate.
Wold worked as a pastry chef at Michelin-starred concepts 11 Madison Park, Jean Georges, and the Musket Room in New York. After moving to Philly when her fiance was hired to work at Comcast, she began Aurora Grace, making her hand-painted chocolates and other confections and baked goods with locally-sourced ingredients before selling them at farmers’ markets around the city.
Aurora Grace is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday.
