Duffer’s Delight Outside Ambler for $677K
Looking for a good place to spoil your walk? This home overlooking a fairway comes with membership in the surrounding country club included in the purchase price.
Now that Tiger Woods has more or less left the building, most of us can go back to not particularly caring about golf. The sport of business executives and a certain class of politician has long had its detractors, one of whom at some time in the distant past came up with a summary of the game so resonant that even its admirers have written books with it in the title: “a good walk spoiled.”
Yet some developers recognize that those who do love the game want to play it whenever they can. These people go out and design golf courses, then surround them with houses whose residents will presumably use the links.
That presumption is baked into this home in Horsham Township, outside Ambler. (Come to think of it, “Ambler” is an appropriate name for a community where one might put a golf course.) Like its neighbors, this Colonial was built as part of the Talamore Country Club development and backs up onto one of the golf course’s fairways.
Buy it and you become a member of the club.
You also get a nicely outfitted Colonial whose current owner decided to throw a bit of the rococo into its interior spaces. Or at least some of them.
The family room with its wood-burning fireplace and the dining room (but not its furniture) are pure expressions of Colonial style, for instance, while the totally up-to-date kitchen got the ruffles and flourishes with fancy lighting over the granite-topped island and leaf-topped columns supporting it, not to mention those window treatments.
The adjacent breakfast room is less fussy and more sunny thanks to its large windows.
The upstairs master suite includes several nice features. It has a spacious bedroom and sitting room…
…a private deck overlooking the backyard…
…and a sumptuous spa-like marble-tiled bath with multiple heads and sprays in the shower, a dual vanity, and a soaking tub with an entertainment center and speakers built in.
In addition to the three other bedrooms on the second floor, the basement media room is set up so that it could be used as a fifth bedroom as well, as it is in this photo.
This home has its own backyard with a paver patio, but in back of the trees at the far end you’ll find the golf course. Your club membership gives you access to the links as well as tennis courts, a swimming pool and a club house where you can entertain visiting guests.
And when you want a change of pace from the country club life, Ambler, Lansdale, Fort Washington and shopping on Route 309 are all a short drive away, as is the Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail line should a night on the town strike your fancy.
