Spirit Airlines Announces New Nonstop Flights From Philly to Florida
The “ultra-low fares” carrier will launch service to two cities in the Sunshine State this year.
Spirit Airlines isn’t slowing its expansion, and if you’re one for the carrier’s low-cost no frills service, the airline is adding two new flights to its Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) roster.
In December, the airline will add nonstop seasonal service to Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Fort Myers Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW).
Spirit’s non-stop flights to Fort Myers will launch on December 13, just in time for the holidays and operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday,
Service to Tampa will begin a day later on December 14 and operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
“This is exciting news for PHL and for travelers who look forward to escaping to sunny, warm Florida during the cold winter months,” said airport CEO Chellie Cameron.
But Spirit, even with its “ultra-low fares,” will face some competition when it launches the new flights in December. Both American Airlines and Frontier Airlines currently offer nonstop service from PHL to Fort Myers. American, Frontier and Southwest Airlines all currently offer nonstop service to Tampa.
The new routes bring Spirit’s annual destinations from PHL up to 10.
