SEPTA, Amtrak Seeing Delays After Freight Train Derails in Delco
There were no injuries in the incident — but commuters might experience some headaches on Thursday morning.

Sorry, SEPTA and Amtrak commuters: You could be experiencing serious delays on Thursday morning.
A freight train derailed in Delaware County overnight, and SEPTA and Amtrak are sorting out schedules in the wake of the incident.
The derailment caused Amtrak to suspend Northeast Corridor service for hours on Thursday morning. Regular service resumed just before 8 a.m., but customers can still expect “significant residual delays throughout the morning due to a reduced number of tracks available,” the company said.

Meanwhile, SEPTA has suspended service along the Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail line. Additional trains are operating on the Media/Elwyn line.
It’s not yet clear when service along the Wilmington/Newark line will resume.

There were no injuries in the derailment, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday under the I-95 overpass in Ridley Township, according to the Inquirer. The last two cars of an 88-car freight train carrying stone derailed.
