Here’s Where You Can Finally Learn to Use a Foam Roller the Right Way

Barre3 Rittenhouse is hosting a free foam rolling 101.

Maybe it’s just me, but when I’m foam rolling, I feel like a seal trying to move on dry land. As in, there’s a lot of awkward scooting. While these uncoordinated movements still, for lack of a better term, “hurt so good,” but wouldn’t it be nice to know exactly how to roll out each part of your body properly?

Fortunately for us, Barre3 is hosting a free workshop that will demonstrate just that — and it’s open to the public. The foam rolling workshop, led by Robyn Weisman, a certified personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist, will take place at the Barre3 studio (1500 Sansom Street) at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 28. The workshop will teach you the basics, with an emphasis on how to use a foam roller if you’re into barre.

This workshop is a part of Barre3’s New Year’s challenge dubbed “B3 All In,” challenging participants to reengage their relationship with their fitness and nutrition by participating in five classes a week while following Barre3’s healthy recipes and cooking tips and engaging with the B3 community. This month-long free challenge includes fun and informative weekly workshops — that’s where this foam rolling event comes into play — in an effort to celebrate and encourage participant’s hard work. They’re still accepting challengers, so it’s not to late to get in on B3 All In.

Here’s the line-up for Barre3’s upcoming workshops for B3 All In:

Sunday, January 14 at 4 p.m.: b3 Basics Workshop with Barre3 Rittenhouse owner Stephanie Grimes
Sunday, January 21 at 4 p.m.: Plant-based snack making with Jess Baumgardner
Sunday, January 28 at 4 p.m.: Foam Rolling with Robyn Weisman

If one or all of these pop-up workshops strike your fancy, pre-registration is a must. Call (267-639-6704), email (rittenhouse@barre3.com) or drop by the Barre3 Rittenhouse studio (1500 Sansom Street) to sign up.
