Latin-American Seafood Spot Pala’a Opens in Ardmore
Pala’a, a Latin-American spot specializing in seafood, is now open in Ardmore at 18 West Lancaster Avenue.
The BYO specializes in ceviche, tartare, and chupe (chowder) as well as Venezuelan specialties like patacones (fried plantain sandwiches) and arepas (grilled corn cakes stuffed with meat or fish). They’re also serving up house-made fresh juices, like the refreshing lime and sugar cane juice beverage papelón, and frozen sorbete.
Pala’a is owned and operated by entrepreneur Cira Ferriera, engineer-turned-caterer Levi Hernandez, and server Ivan Brcek, who hail from Venezuela. The 23-seat spot is open on Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. From 9 a.m. until noon, they’re serving empanadas, hallaquitas (cornmeal wrapped and cooked in corn husks), arepas, and juices for breakfast.
