Comcast Holiday Spectacular Opens on Thanksgiving
That mesmerizing video wall at the Comcast Center switches to its annual holiday show on Thanksgiving Day. If you haven’t seen the “Comcast Experience,” it’s one of the world’s largest and highest-resolution LED displays, according to Visit Philly, stretching 83 feet across and 25 feet high.
The Holiday Spectacular show includes a sleigh ride through the Pennsylvania countryside and up above Philadelphia, plus yuletide classics like Carol of the Bells, Jingle Bell Rock, The Twelve Days of Christmas and George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker by the Pennsylvania Ballet.
If that doesn’t sound like something you’d stand there staring at rapt for 15 minutes, just go check it out for yourself and then let me know if you disagree. Comcast says the Holiday Spectacular has brought in more than 1.6 million visitors since it debuted in 2008.
It’s on every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with shows starting at the beginning of the hour — except at 5 p.m. on weekdays, presumably so the people who work at the Comcast Center don’t have to deal with us gawkers. The building is at 17th and JFK. The Comcast Holiday Spectacular runs through January 1st.
