Former Eagles WR Josh Huff Signs With Buccaneers Practice Squad
Josh Huff’s NFL career isn’t over yet. The former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad on Monday, according to a report from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay times.
“I’m very fortunate and I’m very blessed,” said Huff (via Stroud). “At the same time, mistakes happen. Lessons are learned. I’m ready to move forward from there and start a new home in Tampa.”
The Eagles released Huff last week following a Tuesday arrest for speeding on the Walt Whitman Bridge while in possession of an unlicensed gun, multiple hollow-point bullets, and marijuana.
Huff practiced with the team on Wednesday and spoke with reporters after practice before ultimately being released on Thursday morning. Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman explained the team’s decision to cut Huff, the team’s primary kick returner, last week.
No NFL team was willing to claim Huff’s contract while he was available on waivers, but now the Buccaneers are showing they’re willing to give Huff a shot on their 10-man practice squad. Huff caught a 39-yard touchdown against Tampa Bay during the 2015 season.
