The couple: Brittany Christian and Joshua Bauers, from Woodbury.
The ring: My engagement ring has a round center stone with smaller diamonds encrusted on the white-gold band on each side. I wanted something unique but classic. Josh and I went looking at engagement rings once together to get an idea of what my style was, and as soon as I saw this setting, I fell in love.
Within the next few months, Josh did his own research and decided on the center diamond for the setting. (He took my cousins shopping with him for their input, as well.) He got the ring from a local jeweler called More Than Just Rings in Clementon, where my parents have been shopping for many years. (My mother’s engagement ring was also purchased here about 28 years ago!)
The proposal: Josh proposed in Timber Creek Park near our home. I was completely surprised; we frequently go here with our dog, so it was nothing unusual when he told me we were going to meet a few of our friends there.
After walking our dog around the loop inside the dog park, we took a detour on our way out to one of the trails in the woods that has a small stage near it. I saw a picnic basket sitting on the stage and started to think, “This may be it!” Josh brought me over to it, then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We popped a bottle of champagne, and then he told me to look towards the woods for a photo: Out came my brother who is a photographer, and who was hiding in the woods the entire time capturing the big moment!
We then walked up to the main section of the park where there’s a gazebo, and as I turned the corner, I heard screaming—and then saw about 50 of our family and friends waiting to congratulate us. I have never been so overwhelmed and overjoyed in my entire life.
The band: We will be purchasing the matching band for my ring, which is similar to the engagement ring without the center diamond. The band stacks against the engagement ring so from the side you can see two rows of diamonds.
