Kevin Hart Lands Cover of Runner’s World’s 50th Anniversary Issue
One of our favorite Philadelphians, the oh-so-funny Kevin Hart, graces the cover of this November’s 50th anniversary issue of Runner’s World. Actually, he technically graces three covers: The magazine shot a three-page gatefold cover, with three cover shots representing different eras in running. Naturally, Hart brings the funny to all of them.
For their 50th anniversary issue, the magazine chose two cover stars, Hart and Olympic runner Alexi Pappas, who they thought could bring some humor to reenacting covers from three big running-boom eras, the ‘70s, the ‘80s and the social-media-obsessed now. Hart’s covers, which you can see above, are pretty hilarious — mostly because anything representing the ‘70s and ‘80s tends to be hilarious.
And if you’re confused about why the heck Kevin Hart, a comedian, is on the cover of Runner’s World, let us explain: Kevin Hart loves running. In case you missed it, Hart, hosted pop-up 5Ks all over the country (including here in Philly) while he was on tour last year, and he helms the Move With Hart movement, designed to get people, well, moving.
As he tells Runner’s World in the upcoming issue, on newsstands October 18th, “A lot of people think to themselves, ‘Well, I’m not a runner. I just feel like there’s no such thing; you are what you say you are. So in my mind, I am a runner now. I love to run. Who stops me from giving myself that title? I embrace it and I wear it proudly.” And if there was any doubt, we’re pretty sure you can 100 percent call yourself a runner when you’re on the cover of a freakin’ running magazine.
