Where to Celebrate Coffee Day
While running on all cylinders yesterday, we rolled our eyes at National Coffee Day. Like coffee needs a day? It has all of them already. But this morning, bleary eyed, we’re much more into celebrating National Coffee Day.
Here are some good ways to celebrate (including free coffee):
All Wawa locations are giving away a cup of any sized Wawa coffee today.
At Krispy Kreme, not only is the coffee free but they’re also giving away a free donut.
At Dunkin’ Donuts the coffee isn’t free but is discounted to 66¢ in honor of Dunkin’s 66th birthday.
McDonald’s isn’t giving away its coffee today but it is giving to a good cause. 100 percent of sales from McCafé drip coffees will benefit Covenant House of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
La Colombe is getting into the spirit in several ways. This morning the locally based company announced a sweepstakes to win a trip to Haiti with founder Todd Carmichael. Also, all cafes will be debuting a new coffee today, Esmeralda Geisha from Panama. And what better way to celebrate National Coffee Day than breaking free of your routine. La Colombe describes the coffee as having “floral fragrances and all the sweetness of honeysuckle plucked right off the vine.” And for the Snapchatters out there, La Colombe will have National Coffee Day geofilters at all locations.
Saxby’s is hosting a photo contest that could result in a week of free coffee. Tag your love of coffee with #SaxbySnaps on Instagram for a chance to win. Details are here.
At all Capogiro locations and Old City’s Capofitto, celebrate NCD with their signature Affogato for $5. It starts with a shot of La Colombe espresso but the addition of Capogiro’s gelato is what elevates this treat. Owner Stephanie Reitano suggests Thai Coconut Milk, Fior di Latte, Nocciola Piemontese (hazelnut gelato made with nuts from the Piedmont region of Italy) or Ciccolato Scuro, a dark, dark chocolate flavor.
It isn’t a special but it is a treat at Rival Bros. The Nitro Float is prepared with Rival’s nitro cold brew and then topped with two scoops of Weckerly’s Sweet Cream flavor.
