Lou Bird’s Has A Happy Hour
Lou Bird’s–the new restaurant in the old Meritage space, opened by Norris and Debbie Jordan of the Happy Rooster–has been getting some solid, early love from Philadelphia. Which isn’t really all that surprising since it has Natalie Maronski (ex of Volver) in the kitchen and Josh Jenkins (former manager at Dandelion) working the floor.
But now, they’re trying to make their little neighborhood bistro even more neighborhood-y by adding a happy hour.
So here’s what we know right now. Starting this week, Lou Bird’s will be doing an every-day happy hour, running from 4pm-6pm, seven days a week. Which is nice because, up until now, the place didn’t open ’til 5pm for dinner and opening just a little earlier for those of us who want to duck out of the office early (yet still pretend like we’re working) is much appreciated.
The deals will be $4 draft Yards pints, $5 house red, white and rose wines, $6 featured cocktails and $7 cheese plates. Starting out this week, the cocktail of choice is called “Rosarita,” made with blanco tequila, rosemary, lime and crème de violette.
We’re still waiting to hear more details (like whether or not the kitchen will open at 4pm, allowing the drinkers early access to Maronski’s duck confit and horseradish buttermilk pierogie or sorghum-glazed pork belly toasts with collard green puree), but we’ll let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, happy hour starts in about an hour, so start packing up now.
