Hillary Clinton Will Speak at West Philadelphia High School Today
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will headline a voter registration event at West Philadelphia High School today.
The former Secretary of State is expected to speak sometime after the Pennsylvania Democratic Party event kicks off at 1:15 p.m. at the school, located at 4901 Chestnut Street.
The event is full, according to Clinton’s campaign website. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. for those who registered ahead of time.
Local officials will speak as well as Freeway, a hip-hop artist from North Philadelphia who has previously supported Clinton. Freeway will canvass alongside campaign volunteers and City Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell.
Clinton will discuss how she plans to “build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” according to her campaign.
This is the first time Clinton will return to Philadelphia since she spoke at Temple University shortly after securing the party’s nomination at the Democratic National Convention last month. Since the convention, Clinton’s favorability has climbed considerably in Pennsylvania, according to several polls.
On Monday, Clinton spoke alongside Vice President Joe Biden in his hometown of Scranton, where they criticized Republic presidential candidate Donald Trump for his proposed tax cuts and his failure to release his tax returns.
