Sneak Peek: Everything New at Longwood Gardens’ Nightscape
City-dwellers know that no matter how many times you try to plan a night under the stars, the reality doesn’t quite match up with the fantasy (think: seemingly starless, cloudy skies). Luckily, for the stargazers among us, there’s still hope with Longwood Gardens’ Nightscape: A Light and Sound Experience—and it rivals any star-studded sky.
The spectacular show is back this year through October 29th and continues to be an impressive feat of high-tech, innovative light displays accompanied by a dazzling soundtrack. It first premiered in 2015 (remember our excitement last year?) with Ricardo Rivera, the Creative Director at Klip Collective, who spearheaded the impressive endeavor. It garnered critical acclaim as Nightscape pushed boundaries with enchanting illuminate installations.
Now, Rivera is back for 2016 to remix and revamp the experience, providing more captivating entertainment than ever.
Second-time visitors (or, ahem, third- and fourth-timers) will be glad to know that favorites like the ethereal Topiary Garden, Large Lake and Silver Garden remain mainstays at Nightscape. There will also be new installations, such as an impossibly lush Waterlily display, and music will remain central to the experience. Diverging from the more synthetic compositions of 2015, this year’s Nightscape will feature the traditional motifs of Bach, Brahms and Debussy performed by none other than Philadelphia-area musicians. Best of all, you’ll have a chance to purchase the compositions from both 2015 and 2016 in a limited-edition Vinyl that comes paired with a digital download.
The folks at Longwood Gardens suggest buying tickets in advance and allotting about 90 minutes to catch the entire exhibit (psst: you can head to the beer garden beforehand!). An added bonus, Nightscape ticket-holders also receive free Gardens admission for the day. Or, you can always become a Member and enjoy a slew of perks all year long.
