The Rosé Report

It is summer and to many that means it is time to drink the rosé wine. The easy drinking pink wine is having a bit of a moment right now and there are several rosé based events coming up in the next week.

The Veuve Clicquot Journey arrives in Philadelphia this weekend and they’re bring their rosé. This evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Silk City is hosting a night of Veuve Clicquot fun with a DJ, photo booth, lawn games and champagne specials. Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label will be available for $20 by-the-glass or $80 by-the-bottle but more importantly for this post, Veuve Clicquot Rosé will be available for $25 by-the-glass.

Tomorrow, the journey stops by Monarch in Northern Liberties for champagne and specials like Bavarian pretzels with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label infused dipping sauce and Veuve Clicquot fruit popsicles.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., Vintage is hosting another of its Summer School classes. This week it is Stop and Smell the Rosés with Michael Hodges of Vintage Imports. Hodges, a favorite of Vintage (the bar), will be presenting a tasting of five rosé wines. Guests will learn about different production types, how the varietal effects the flavor profiles and of course, the terroir.

That isn’t the only rosé event for Sunday however. Brick and Mortar is hosting its second Rosé All Day brunch. This time the brunch runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and in addition to a DJ and brunch menu till 7 p.m., there will be $5 glasses of rosé and sparkling rosé, plus $25 bottles.

On Tuesday, Wm. Mulherin’s Sons hosts the kickoff of the Summer of Brosé with a happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event, which encourages men and women to drink the pink stuff, will have a variety of still and sparkling rosé wine on special, plus discounted food from chef Chris Painter’s kitchen. A portion of proceeds will go to a charity of chef Painter’s choice.

Ela is making every Wednesday a night to drink pink. Jason Cichonski’s Queen Village restaurant is offering $6 flights and discounted rosé wine ($6 and $8) all night. And that’s in addition to being able to get a three-course meal for $30. As Ela’s Instagram hashtag says, “#SipThis.”
