Mount Airy Gets a New Barre and Yoga Studio (With SurfSET Classes!)
’Tis the season for fitness studio openings: In the past few weeks, Philly has seen quite the influx of studios, with Freehouse Fitness Studio opening in the Grad Hospital area, Sculpt Fitness Studio opening on Broad Street and Wake Up Yoga announcing a soon-to-come Rittenhouse studio. Then there’s Solidcore and Unite Fitness’s new Rittenhouse studio, both slated for summer openings. And now, another one to add to the list: Y2B Fit, a new yoga and barre studio setting up shop on Emlen Street in Mount Airy.
As Crystal Widmann, a Roxborough-based barre and yoga instructor who’s been running Y2B Fit as a virtual fitness platform since last July, tells us, the 1,300-square foot corner studio will feature a schedule of barre — including BYO Baby Barre, a very cute creation of Widmann’s, which she currently teaches at The Wall — yoga (primarily Vinyasa flow classes), and barre combo classes. Think: HIIT Barre and Cardio Barre. The studio also plans to offer massage and reiki after they get settled. And for some very exciting news: They’ll also have SurfSET — a hard-to-find workout done indoors on a stabilized surfboard, combining surf- and yoga-inspired movements for a serious core workout — classes on the schedule. (And yes: it is indeed as fun as it sounds.)
Along with the studio’s in-house offerings, Widmann will continue offering the virtual workouts (which are crazy-inexpensive, at $12 for a monthly membership), and they’ll also offer the virtual classes as an add-on to a studio membership. Drop-ins to the studio will run you $16, while 10-pack class packs are $130. Monthly memberships with a six-month contract are $99.
While the studio’s grand opening isn’t until July 9th, Widmann will be offering free classes at the studio tomorrow, June 23rd and this Saturday, June 25th. You can see the schedule for those here and learn more about the studio here.
