Three Philly Eateries Are Teaming Up for an Epic Vegan Pizza Night
What better way to celebrate hump day (we’re almost halfway through the work week!) than with a pizza party? But this Wednesday night, instead of ordering from a pizza joint that will make your skin feel like it is oozing grease post-slice, head over to Old City’s Capofitto Pizza + Gelato where they’re joining forces with Sip-N-Glo Juicery and Miss Rachel’s Pantry to put on an epic vegan pizza night that so beats delivery.
The inspiration for the night is the feminist, punk rock band Pussy Riot (hence the #FreePizzaRiot hashtag) and the restaurant will be bumping their tunes throughout the evening. Rachel Klein of Miss Rachel’s Pantry and Steph Reitano, owner and chef at Capofitto have a menu drafted up and, by any pizza lover’s standards, it looks delicious. You can expect options like the White Riot — Potato Knish, a pizza with whipped potatoes, caramelized onions, finished with horseradish mustard cream and baby dill and the Death of Jail, Freedom of Pizza, a slice topped with roasted eggplant, tomato, capers and vegan ricotta. Pizza partiers will also be tempted with a slew of appetizers including Matzoh Ball Arancini, Whipped Vegan Ricotta with Pizza Bread and Vegan Minestrone. Oh! And if you’re wondering where Sip-N-Glo plays into the equation, they’ll be concocting some delicious cocktails to wash your slices down with.
Prices for pizza and apps range from $9 to $18, and everything will be served á la carte. If you want in, the vegan pizza night will run from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. tomorrow night, and you can make reservations ahead or just stop in.
