Funeral This Weekend for Former Police Chief Willie Williams
Funeral services for former Police Commissioner Willie Williams will be held this weekend in North Philadelphia, according to a statement from the Philadelphia Police Department.
A public viewing will be held Friday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 2008 N. Broad Street. Police will march in formation to the funeral home beginning at 3:45 p.m.
A second viewing will be held Saturday morning from 8 to 11, with funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, 3600 N. Broad Street.
Williams, who died last week at the age of 72, was the first African-American police commissioner in both Philadelphia and, later, Los Angeles. He will be buried at Chelten Hills Cemetery.
