WIP Suspends Josh Innes for Jason Kelce Comments
Hot-headed 94.1 WIP radio broadcaster Josh Innes finds himself caught up in controversy once again, this time for his comments yesterday referring to Eagles center Jason Kelce as a “house negro.” Innes likened Kelce to a “lap dog” because of his unflappable loyalty to the team’s coaching staff.
Now, Innes will receive punishment for his choice of analogies in the form of suspension.
“In light of yesterday’s comments, we have suspended Mr. Innes,” said WIP in an emailed statement.
Philly.com reports that the suspension is for three days, and that the station said: “Comments made by Josh Innes during his WIP-FM program yesterday in regards to Eagles center Jason Kelce were inappropriate and unacceptable. We do not condone or approve of those comments.”
Kelce responded to Innes via Twitter:

Is this the end of the flap? Crossing Broad, who published the recorded audio, tweeted the following:
#RADIOWARS Hearing Josh Innes is not out of the woods yet and CBS is gauging reaction to comments, handling to determine if they’ll do more.

Innes quickly apologized for the comments on the air. “I’m the dumbest human being on the planet,” he said. “I apologize for that, I truly do. I’m an idiot.” Clearly his regrets were not enough to appease WIP.
