Second Jahlil Okafor Fight Video Surfaces; Police Report Filed

For once this season, things were looking up for the Sixers. In Kobe’s big farewell to Philadelphia (gag), The Sixers beat the Lakers and won their first game since March. Rookie big man Jahlil Okafor was not the star of the game, but he had 12 points and 5 rebounds in the win for the 1-18 Sixers.

You knew this couldn’t last, Sixers fans. Today, TMZ posted video of a second Jahlil Okafor fight the same night in Boston as the first fight video TMZ had.

The Boston Police Department later confirmed that a report had been filed in a fight the night the Sixers played (and lost) in Boston. A source tells TMZ charges are likely to be filed against Okafor.

The victim filed a police report saying two men, one believed to be Okafor, approached his female friends outside Storyville Nightclub in Boston. A verbal altercation began after the friend rebuffed the pair’s advances. The victim says Okafor was at first restrained, but broke free and pushed and punched the victim, who says he suffered a cut under his eye and needed stitches.

Last week, Boston police said they had no plans to investigate the Okafor fight. Cops said they responded to the fight in the first video, but no one remained afterward.

The new video shows what appears to be a bunch of fans yelling at Okafor. He is held back, but after more yelling — including some comments about Okafor’s perceived wealth — he breaks free and throws a punch at someone. He misses. A scuffle ensues, not all of it is captured on video, and eventually a man is left on the ground. It’s all very weird — the dude filming it with his phone keeps saying “Jahlil Okafor” — and at one point someone seems to yell, “That’s one of the best players in the NBA!” Okafor?

Earlier, Okafor told reporters he was embarrassed about recent incidents. He also reportedly had a gun pulled on him in Old City, presented a fake ID at Misconduct Tavern and was stopped for driving 108 miles per hour over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

“I’m ashamed with what I did and that’s not who I am,” Okafor said. “Everybody that reached out to me that’s in my circle they know that’s not who I am. So I have a great support system and they will continue to support me.”
