Report: MRI Confirms Separated Shoulder For Sam Bradford

In addition to suffering a concussion, an MRI confirmed that Sam Bradford separated his left shoulder Sunday against the Dolphins, according to Ed Werder.

Although a previous report indicated Bradford may miss the Eagles’ next two games, Werder also noted that the quarterback wants to play this week and will “see how he feels late in [the] week.”

However, Bradford did sit out of practice today, in addition to Ryan Mathews (concussion) and Jason Peters (back). Peters did practice yesterday, leading a reporter to ask Chip Kelly today if Peters suffered a setback.

“I guess so,” Kelly said. “I just know he can’t go today.”

Kelly said Bradford and Mathews, both of whom suffered their concussions in the Eagles’ 20-19 loss to the Dolphins, had yet to be cleared through the league’s concussion protocol, which meant they were not allowed to practice with the team.

Kelly also said Bradford hasn’t been able to test his left shoulder, because he hasn’t cleared concussion protocol yet.

Peters, who hasn’t played since Week 7 because of back spasms, warmed up with trainers before the team’s last game and indicated that he was ready to play. Kelly said Wednesday that the team’s doctors didn’t clear him to play against the Dolphins.

“[Peters] worked out before the game and wasn’t cleared to go by the doctors,” Kelly explained.

Connor Barwin was also sidelined during Wednesday’s practice with what Kelly called a “quad” injury.

Walter Thurmond, who didn’t practice Tuesday, was back at practice Wednesday. Kelly wouldn’t elaborate on what had held Thurmond out on Tuesday.

As for Barwin’s injury, Kelly made it sound like the linebacker would be ready for the upcoming game against Tampa Bay. Kelly said that Barwin would be able to jog around during Wednesday’s practice and do some things, just not participate fully.

Kelly said the team is confident in Marcus Smith if Barwin can’t play, but isn’t too worried that will be the case.

“We’re confident, if Connor can’t go — I don’t think that’s going to be the case — but we’re confident, if Connor can’t go, that Marcus can fill in there,” Kelly said.

— Elsewhere, Nelson Agholor played in Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins, his first game back after missing four weeks with an ankle injury.

Kelly was asked Wednesday about Agholor’s status after returning to action.

“[Agholor]’s back. I don’t know if he’s back to where he was, but he played the whole game for us,” Kelly said. “He came out of it okay, no worse for the wear.

“I couldn’t put a 100-percent tag on [Agholor] right now, but he’s good to go, and unless we have a setback during this week, he should be good to go this weekend.

Josh Andrews (concussion) was also sidelined.
