Free Flu Shots for Philadelphia Residents
If you’ve yet to get a flu shot this year, consider this your official reminder. And if you’re a Philadelphia resident, you have officially run out of excuses: The city is offering free flu shots to all city residents, the Philadelphia Department of Health announced today.
So far, the Health Department reports low flu activity in Philadelphia; however, it will undoubtedly begin to increase as the season marches forward. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot. Unlike last year’s not-so-effective flu shot, officials say this year’s vaccine is well matched to the flu strains cropping up in the community.
Free vaccines will be available at one of the city’s District Health Centers. You will not need to pay, of course, but if you have insurance the city will bill your insurer. Here’s where and when to get your flu shot:
