The 2015 Health Hero Challenge Finalists!

The 2015 Health Hero Challenge Finalists!

Aaaand we’ve made it to the Final Four, folks! As of 10 a.m. today, the four finalists in the 2015 Health Hero Challenge are up for voting. You can cast a vote here.

If you’re new to the competition, here’s what’s been happening the past few months: Over the summer, we collected nominations from people all across the region, telling the stories of people working to make Philly a healthier, happier place to be. From those nominations, Philadelphia magazine editors narrowed the bunch down to our 16 semifinalists. During the months of September and October, we opened it up to reader voting; four semifinalists were up for voting each week and the winner of each week went on to the finals.

Since then, we’ve been busy making videos of each of the finalists so that you can get to know them better. We also found out which charity they’re playing for in the final round. Whoever wins will get $7,500 for the charity of their choice, so this round is all about giving back.

Now — drumroll, please — the folks who made it to the final round, along with their charity cause.

Candace Gantt, Chair of Penn Medicine’s Mind Your Brain conference

Dr. Christine Meyer, founder of Team CMMD
Charity: Team CMMD Foundation
The Team CMMD Foundation is a non-profit charity team of runners and non-runners who fight cancer by raising funds and awareness for research and to support local cancer victims and their families. As founder Christine Meyer says, “We might not be able to save somebody’s life but we can at least make their fight that much easier and, to me, that’s the most important thing that we do.”

Voting will remain open until 11:59 on November 9th; you may vote once every 24 hours during the voting period. The winner will be announced live at our Health Hero Challenge party on November 17th, and we’ll post the winner on our Facebook page and Twitter feed that night. Good luck to our finalists!
