Opening Today: Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie
The brainchild of Christine and Nick Kondra, Cornerstone Cheese & Chatcuterie opens today (Friday, October 9) in Wayne, offering an array of expertly crafted meats and cheeses, prepared foods, a daily menu and cooking demos from visiting chefs being brought in from all over the country.
After traveling the world and exploring the restaurants of top-tier culinary artisans, the Kondras created the concept of Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie as an accumulation of their experiences seeking out exceptionally sourced products from small-batch farms and purveyors.
Their mission? To bring all the things they loved from around the country to the Main Line and to use them as a way to share share their extensive culinary adventures.
So what is Cornerstone exactly? First, it’s a prepared foods store with an artisanal cheese counter and charcuterie station. Then there’s also a 14-seat chef’s counter to anchor the space as a gathering spot where people can hang out.
Along with the prepared foods, meats and cheeses, Cornerstone will also offer a daily menu that “reflects the cycle of the seasons,” including items like mussels, seasonal mac and cheese, an assortment of breakfast sandwiches and more. Since the store/cafe is BYO, the Kondra’s will offer suggestions and pairings of what best complements the kitchen’s seasonal choices.
Oh, and on top of all that? Cornerstone will also be using that counter space to present a bi-monthly chef series featuring chefs from all over the world, bringing their own tastes and talents to the Philadelphia region. Which, depending on who the Kondras can fly in, could be an amazing opportunity.
Speaking of which, on October 28 and 29, the first visiting chef will be Tim Bodell of Francis Ford Coppola’s winery, RUSTIC in Geyersville, CA. Seating is limited to 14 guests at the counter and reservations can be made by calling the store or online at Cornerstone’s website.
