With just a few games left in the season, the Phillies have the worst record in baseball and appear headed to 100 losses. This weekend, they’re in D.C. playing the Nationals, who once looked headed to the playoffs but will finish second in the NL East behind the Mets.
The Nats have former Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon, who was sent to Washington in a trade on July 28th for minor leaguer Nick Pivetta. During today’s game against the Phillies, Papelbon got into an argument with Bryce Harper.
Then, they fought.

After this, Papelbon actually went back out to pitch — and gave up a 2-run homer to the Phillies’ Andres Blanco. He gave up a few more baserunners, was pulled from the game, and eventually allowed five runs in an inning of work.
The Phillies scored 8 runs in the ninth and won, 12-5.
