Coeur Promises Everyday Appeal
Coeur, the new restaurant from Leigh Maida, Brendan Hartranft and Brendan Kelly have announced that the grand opening of their Bella Vista restaurant will be September 15th.
The restaurant, in the former home of The Mildred and James, will open with a grand opening party at 5 p.m. on the 15th. The event will include complimentary passed samples from the menu.
Maida says “we are all about affordability and accessibility. We want guests to say to themselves ‘Hey, it’s Tuesday, let’s go to Coeur!’ not ‘Hey, it’s our anniversary, let’s go to Coeur.'”
The restaurant promises to be a Montreal-inspired bistro with chef Andrew Tessier (DBGB, Boulud Sud, The Farm and Fisherman and Pub & Kitchen) in the kitchen. As for the kitchen, a large rotisserie oven is its centerpiece, so expect lots of juicy chicken. But the owners also promise something for vegans, vegetarians and omnivores in the “every day is a celebration” spirit that the owners dig about Montreal’s restaurant scene.
One thing that will be different from the team’s Local 44, Strangelove’s and Memphis Taproom offerings is that there will be more of a wine focus behind the bar. Hartranft says he’s aiming to recreate what his bars have done with beers, “lose the snobbery and ramp up the excitement factor.” Six wines (along with ten beers) will be available on draft. A selection of cocktails plus bottled wine and and beers will be round out the offerings.
Coeur will be open daily with food till midnight. Lunch will start immediately, and brunch will follow.
