New Happy Hours Offer Alternatives to Sips Crowds
Whether you’ve tired of Center City Sips, your go-to bar, or simply drinking at home, here’s a round-up of the newer additions to the list of Philadelphia’s happy hours this summer. With the heat of August on the horizon, we’re probably all going to need a drink (or three), so let these newcomers reinvigorate your weekday drinking.
We’ll accept a cocktail as thanks.
Ela
627 S. 3rd Street
The bar menu now includes grilled cheese (the kind with camembert and white peach mostardo) and crispy potato gnocchi “tots” with black truffle dip. With a $4 or $6 rotating happy hour cocktail, you’ve adequately answered the question of dinner. 5 – 7 PM, Sunday – Thursday.
Bing Bing Dim Sum
1648 E Passyunk Avenue
They just added happy hour in May, and with their Italian Roast Pork Bao or Scarlet Dumplings at only $5, you really can’t go wrong. Plus, you’ll get $10 off any cocktail pitcher. 5-7 PM, Monday – Friday.
Pizzeria Vetri
1615 Chancellor Street
The food is forever good, but Pizzeria Vetri is also always an option for the early birds, with $2 off draft beer or wine and half-priced margherita pizzas (and other rotating specials) starting at 4 PM. 4 – 6 PM, Mondays – Fridays .
Abe Fisher
1605-27 Sansom Street
Now extended by an extra hour, you can nab three mini open-faced sandwiches for $5 to accompany any of the cocktails or one of their 16 different wines for $7. Really hungry? Here’s the solution: even at the bar, can you order the $39 price fixe. 5 – 7 PM, daily.
Victoria Freehouse
10 S Front Street
$5 Imperial pints! We’re talking 20 ounces of beer, my friends. And half-priced snacks. Also, starting September, they’re adding buck-a-shuck to the happy hour menu. 4 – 7 PM, Monday – Friday.
Triangle Tavern
1338 South 10th Street
Their new happy hour is offering the kind of unbeatable $10 wings (vegan or chicken) and pitcher (32 oz, mind you) of Yuengling deal. Few things are as happy as that. 4 – 6 PM, Monday – Friday.
Independence Beer Garden
100 South Independence Mall West
Opt for the great outdoors and head to the Independence Beer Garden, where you can play shuffleboard while you drink. Even on a Sunday (especially on a Sunday). Plus, a $4 happy hour menu includes bites like corn croquettes, beef sliders, mahi mahi tacos, and spit roasted chicken wings. 5 – 7 PM, Sunday – Thursday.
Palladino’s
1934 E Passyunk Avenue
As if this list isn’t long enough to keep you busy already, Palladino’s is yet another option, where happy hour is the only time you can get your hands (and mouth) on their Foie Gras Stuffed Chicken wings. 5-7 PM, Monday – Friday; 2:30-5:30 PM, Sunday.
Fitler Dining Room
2201 Spruce Street
And last, but certainly not least, sit outside at the elegant-yet-cozy Fitler Dining Room to soak up the last of the day’s sun while you snack on $1 oysters and $5 sangria. 4 – 6 PM, Monday – Friday.
