Meet Mickey, This Week’s Adoptable Running Dog
This week’s adoptable running dog is a young, three-pawed (but four-legged) pit bull with all the spirit and love of any four-pawed dog. Mickey is a cuddly, loving, and quick-learning puppy with the ability to make anyone smile with one of his signature hugs. Learn more about him below.
Name: Macgyver aka Mickey
Age: 1 to 2 years old
Breed: Pit Bull/Bull Terrier mix
Size: 65 pounds
Running style: Mickey is surprisingly quick and easy to run with given his circumstances. He loves a solid 20 to 30 minutes of walking, running, or a combination of the two each day. While he may be missing his front right paw, it doesn’t slow him down a bit. You may find yourself pushing yourself to new limits with this running partner!
Why Mickey is awesome: While we will never be quite certain what circumstances led us to find him in his current condition, he has quickly become a local celebrity in Northern Liberties, with hundreds of followers who are rooting him on while he continues to improve both mentally and physically every day. Mickey would love nothing more than to become part of a single dog home with no cats. His favorite past-times include cuddling, his daily walks/runs, tug of war, chewing on a tasty rawhide, and watching his favorite TV Show: Lost. Mickey is great on a leash, is housebroken, and would make a great companion to anyone looking to spoil someone with love (and hopefully peanut butter).
If you’re interested in adopting Mickey, you can fill out an application at www.streettails.org or contact Street Tails Animal Rescue by phone at 267-761-9434 email them at adoption@streettails.org. And for more awww-worthy photos, check out our previous adoptable running dogs here.
………..
We work with The Monster Milers each and every week to profile local running dogs waiting to be adopted. The Monster Milers are a group of runners who help shelter dogs burn off energy and get much-needed exercise by taking them on runs around the city, and they also just launched their first-of-it’s-kind Adopt a Running Buddy foster program. If you’re not in the market for a pup right now, but would still love to help out homeless dogs, you can always become a Monster Miler volunteer or foster parent. Find out more about how to get started with those processes here.
