Love yoga? What about giving back to the community? Well good news, in a few weeks, you can do both at the same time! Sweeeeeet. Haverford’s Prana House Yoga is hosting an awesome one-day yoga relay event benefitting For Pete’s Sake, a local charity that supports adult cancer patients and their families.

A little confused about what a yoga relay is? (I was at too at first. It’s okay.) Here’s how it works: It’s kind of like a typical switch on-and-off relay. Participants get into groups of five, and each member chooses one hour-long yoga class to participate in over the course of the day. While one member is doing yoga, there will be a day-long festival going on where the rest of the group can enjoy meditation, skin care demonstrations, cooking and nutrition demonstrations, a guided walk through the beautiful Haverford College campus, and more! Within your group, that’s a total of five hours of continuous yoga. Hence the name of this event, YogaroundtheClock.

Now, here’s where the “for a good cause” part comes in: Each group has a fundraising goal of $500. So each member is responsible for raising $100 through a direct donation or through For Pete’s Sake’s online fundraising platform. There will be prizes for the top individual fundraiser and the top team fundraiser.

If you love the idea of a yoga relay but aren’t an expert yogi, no need to fret! The classes range in skill level and include beginners yoga, yin, vinyasa, advanced, and more. So you’re sure to find something you’re up for.

The yoga relay will go down on June 27th at Prana House Yoga, located at 385 Lancaster Avenue in Haverford. The event will kick off at 1 p.m. and the festivities will continue from there. You can find more information and register here.
