Retro Week: A Night Of Novel-Inspired Cocktails

The Renegade Company and Spirit Forward are teaming up to bring you some of your favorite novels - in cocktail form.

Do you love reading? Do you love drinking? Have you ever thought about combining those two hobbies together? Well, now you can, without feeling too bad about yourself. (Because those are our hobbies and we don’t feel bad about it at all.)

The Renegade Company is teaming up with Spirit Forward to present an evening cocktail pop-up, inspired by classic novels and films. The three novels they have chosen will be The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Path and Orson Welles’ adaptation of The War of the Worlds. Spirit Forward will present cocktail demonstrations inspired by each of these works–all of which sounds like a pretty awesomely good time.

Renegade is also previewing an upcoming work of theirs entitles Damned Dirty Apes–a mash-up of the films Planet of the Apes, King Kong and Tarzan. Throughout the night there will also be readings from other novels and plays. Which, ok, might be a little weird. But we’re betting that all the alcohol will help a live reading go down a little more smoothly than it usually would.

The event takes place on Monday, June 1 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m at Wharton Heights, a venue at 1816 Wharton Street in Point Breeze. To make your reservations, email Info@TheRenegadeCompany.org.
