Drexel Hosting Spring Series of Dining Events


drexel-hsm-940This Spring, Drexel University’s Center for Hospitality and Sport Management is hosting a series of events including a wine pairing event with the New York Times Eric Asimov, a Di Bruno Bros. cheese seminar, a pasta dinner in honor of Drexel’s new Arcobaleno Pasta Lab, and a preview of Joncarl Lachman’s Neuf.

CORRINE TRANG AND ERIC ASIMOV WINE PAIRING

April 6, 2015
6 pm

Corinne Trang, notable cookbook author and Drexel alumna, and Eric Asimov, New York Times wine writer and author, will conduct a guided discussion and tasting on the art of pairing wine and food.  The night will include a selection of five wines carefully chosen by Asimov along with a selection of food pairings chosen by Trang and Drexel culinary arts students. The evening will conclude with a book signing and cocktail reception.

Must be 21.
$55 per person

DOWNTOWN ITALIAN DINNER

Join us for a Downtown Italian cookbook dinner by Chefs Gabriel Thompson and Katherine Thompson.  This family-style dinner will consist of a four-course meal featuring dishes from their cookbook as well as a complimentary wine pairing.  Dinner will include a signed copy of Downtown Italian and a cocktail hour with the authors.

DI BRUNO BROS. – DREXEL CHEESE SEMINAR

Drexel’s Center for Hospitality and Sport Management join forces with Di Bruno Bros. for a cheese seminar to fund culinary scholarships at Drexel.  This event will feature a cheese lecture by author/scientist/Drexel Alum, Michael Tunick (“The Science of Cheese”), a cheese demonstration by Sue Miller (Birchrun Hills Cheese), and a cheese and beverage discussion and tasting with Emilio Mignucci of Di Bruno Bros., Jason Malumed of Chalkboard Wine and Spirits, and Mary Grace Hodge of Flying Fish Brewery. Includes an artwork display by Mike Geno.

ARCOBALENO PASTA DINNER

Arcobaleno’s Pasta Extruders are the secret behind some of the best pasta in Philadelphia.  In recognition of their support in funding the Arcobaleno Pasta Lab at Drexel University, Philadelphia’s top chefs will be working with Drexel students to produce an all-star pasta dinner featuring wine by Fred Magnotta.  The evening will begin with a wine portfolio tasting by Fred Magnotta LLC followed by a plated pasta dinner featuring creations from Townsend, Osteria, Sbraga, Le Virtu, Kensington Quarters, and Capofitto.

Joncarl Lachman will design an exclusive one night family-style preview of his new restaurant, Restaurant Neuf, at Drexel’s Academic Bistro.  The menu for this new Bella Vista restaurant will include dishes based on North African cuisine with French influences.
