Notes: Ryans Says He’ll Be Ready For Camp

“I’ll be ready to go when training camp starts, no doubt,” Ryans told New Jersey Advance Media. “That will be like the end of July I’ll definitely be ready by then. I’ll be out there at the start of camp.”…

Ryans missed the final nine games of last season, and has been re-habbing consistently at NovaCare to get back on the field. He says he is right on schedule.

“It’s going really well,” he said, “I’ve been jogging on the field. The program is right on schedule, there have been no setbacks at all.”

Ryans ruptured his right Achilles against Houston in early November. He will be eight-plus months into his recovery come training camp.  Ryans tore his left Achilles tendon in mid-October, 2010 while with the Texans. He was cleared to return to action in mid-July, 2011, or nine months later.

There are currently three starting-caliber inside linebackers on the roster — Ryans, Mychal Kendricks and the newly-acquired Kiko Alonso. That has led to speculation that there could be an odd man out. Kelly, though, said building depth at the position was a top priority this offseason. Given that Ryans and Alonso are both coming off significant injuries and Kendricks was also hurt in 2014, that depth could come in handy.

Eagles work out a QB

Eagles quarterbacks coach Ryan Day worked out signal-caller Cody Fajardo at Nevada’s Pro Day this week, according to Mike Kaye of Bleeding Green Nation.

Fajardo had an extremely productive career at Nevada after taking over for current 49ers passer Colin Kaepernick. He finished his college career with 9,659 passing yards, 57 passing touchdowns and 29 interceptions. He also ran for 44 rushing touchdowns in four seasons with the Wolf Pack.

Fajardo’s mixture of passing accuracy and mobility likely appeals to the Eagles. He clearly fits the type of passer that could flourish in Chip Kelly’s offense and be a great developmental option if the team were to move on from No. 3 passer Matt Barkley.

Fajardo (6-1, 223) is projected to go in the seventh round by CBS Sports. His 4.63 40 time at the combine was fourth-fastest amongst quarterbacks. He performed well athletically overall:

The Eagles are reportedly shopping Matt Barkley. They recently had Tim Tebow in for a workout. Asked about that decision this week, Kelly told NFL.com that they are just doing their homework.
