Here's the Beef at World Cafe Live
This is clearly not for the vegetarians out there: World Cafe Live is teaming up with Shangy's to present a big beef dinner this Monday night. The "Here's the Beef" event will feature an eight-course meal featuring just about every kind of meat dish imaginable, and even organizers claim it is clearly "not for the faint of heart." Dirty Dancing at the Academy of Music
No one puts Baby in the corner! If you're a fan of the iconic movie Dirty Dancing, you'll love the stage production that plays this week at the Academy of Music. All of your favorite hits from the '80s film are here, and, as the name suggests, the dancing will be out of this world. This production opened in Australia in 2004, and has since broken records in London and around the world. Through April 5th, various times, $20-105.50, Academy of Music, 240 South Broad Street.


Jeff Bradshaw and Friends at the TLA
Philly's own Jeff Bradshaw will be having a huge homecoming this Tuesday at the TLA as he presents a concert that is sure to leave you jamming in the isles. He'll be joined on stage with Eric Roberson, Black Thought, and Kenny Lattimore. Don't miss this opportunity to catch this superstar homegrown talent. Richard Avedon: Family Affairs at National Museum of American Jewish History
The National Museum of American Jewish History opens an exhibit on Wednesday featuring the work of photographer Richard Avedon, whose family portraits became the stuff of legends in the 1960's and 1970's. Richard Avedon: Family Affairs includes portrait murals and nearly 70 shots taken by the late Avedon. This is the only U.S. stop on the tour of this special exhibition. Philadelphia: The Great Experiment Free Screening of In The Storm at Kimmel Center
The Emmy-Award winning series Philadelphia: The Great Experiment returns this week with a free screening of In The Storm at Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater. The segment will cover Philadelphia history from 1765-1790, and movie watchers will see familiar historical figures gracing the screen. This is a great family-friendly evening, perfect for history lovers. Wednesday, April 1st, 7:00 pm, free, Kimmel Center, 300 South Broad Street


St. Matthew's Passion with The Philadelphia Orchestra
The Philadelphia Orchestra's Yannick Nezet-Seguin leads large-scale musical forces to present Bach's epic The Passion According to St. Matthew. The production, which has a minimalist staging by director James Alexander, features a host of acclaimed singers, along with the talents of The Westminster Symphonic Choir and The American Boychoir. Wednesday, April 1st and Saturday, April 4th, 8:00 pm, $35-110, Kimmel Center, 300 South Broad Street.


Frank Bruni at the Free Library
Noted New York Times op-ed columnist Frank Bruni will be giving a free talk this Wednesday at the Free Library about his latest book, Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be: An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania. Bruni is the Times first ever openly gay op-ed columnist, who used to be the paper's head restaurant critic. Wednesday, April 1st, 7:30 pm, free, Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine Street


Art in Bloom Fashion Show at Macy's Flower Show
One of the special events of the Macy's Spring Flower Show is this Wednesday evening party. The Art in Bloom fashion show will feature all the latest trends and best bets for updating your wardrobe, plus there will be light bites, mini-makeovers, and live music to celebrate amongst the gorgeous floral displays in the store. City Council Candidate Convention
This Thursday is the first ever City Council Candidate Convention at WHYY, sponsored by Young Involved Philadelphia and the Committee of Seventy. The event is open to the public and is completely non partisan: It hopes to get young voters out to learn about important city-wide issues. Food and beverage will be provided.
