No one puts Baby in the corner! If you're a fan of the iconic movie Dirty Dancing, you'll love the stage production that plays this week at the Academy of Music. All of your favorite hits from the '80s film are here, and, as the name suggests, the dancing will be out of this world. The National Museum of American Jewish History opens an exhibit on Wednesday featuring the work of photographer Richard Avedon, whose family portraits became the stuff of legends in the 1960's and 1970's. Richard Avedon: Family Affairs includes portrait murals and nearly 70 shots taken by the late Avedon. This is the only U.S. stop on the tour of this special exhibition. The Emmy-Award winning series Philadelphia: The Great Experiment returns this week with a free screening of In The Storm at Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater. The segment will cover Philadelphia history from 1765-1790, and movie watchers will see familiar historical figures gracing the screen. The Philadelphia Orchestra's Yannick Nezet-Seguin leads large-scale musical forces to present Bach's epic The Passion According to St. Matthew. The production, which has a minimalist staging by director James Alexander, features a host of acclaimed singers, along with the talents of The Westminster Symphonic Choir and The American Boychoir.
