Kendall Jenner Breaks Her Silence on Bruce’s Gender Transformation
Olympic champion and patriarch of the Kardashian klan clan Bruce Jenner has been the subject of a lot of headlines lately—many speculating whether or not he’s actually going through gender transformation. So far he’s remained mum, but this weekend, while attending the Justin Bieber Roast on Comedy Central, his 19-year-old daughter Kendall Jenner gave us one of the most definitive answers we have to date: During an interview with Us Weekly, she said:
I love my dad. He’s always been there for me and my sisters. … He’s a wonderful man. And just because he’s changing shoes now, so to speak, doesn’t make him less wonderful. I will always love my dad, whether he’s a man or a woman.
Earlier this month, Kim Kardashian expressed her support for Jenner in an interview on Entertainment Tonight without actually confirming that he was transitioning. “I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he’ll share whenever the time is right … I feel like that’s his journey to talk about … Of course we support Bruce 100 percent.”
The key word here is “whenever the time is right,” which, with Kendall’s statement, may mean that Bruce Jenner is inching closer to sharing his story publicly. If he does so, he would be the highest-profile person to come out as transgender, an act that would bring more—and hopefully positive—visibility to the transgender community.
