The Eagles have sent Nick Foles to the Rams for Sam Bradford in a deal that also involves draft picks.

The Eagles get a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft. There is also a conditional pick in 2016. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, if Bradford doesn’t play at all for the Eagles in 2015, the Birds get a third-round pick back. If he starts less than 50 percent of the snaps, they get a fourth-rounder. If he starts 50 percent or more, they get nothing in 2016.

The Rams get a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft and a second-rounder in 2016.

The initial reaction here? Perhaps there is a second move coming where the Eagles are looking to ship Bradford to another team. If they simply wanted to acquire Bradford for Foles, the move seems like a complete head-scratcher.

Bradford, 27, has struggled to stay healthy, having suffered ACL injuries in each of the past two seasons. He missed all of last season and started only seven games in 2013. He’s started 49 games in his career, completed 58.6 percent of his passes and thrown 59 touchdowns compared to 38 interceptions. Bradford has averaged 6.3 YPA and posted a passer rating of 79.3.

Bradford has one year remaining on his contract. He is due a base salary of $12.985M, which the Eagles will now have to absorb

Foles started 24 games for the Eagles after being drafted in the third round back in 2012. He completed 61.6 percent of his passes, averaged 7.6 YPA and tossed 46 touchdowns against 17 interceptions. Foles has a career passer rating of 94.2. In 2013, he turned in one of the great statistical seasons in NFL history, throwing 27 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Foles is under contract through 2015 and is due just over $1.5M.

The Eagles now have Mark Sanchez, Bradford and Matt Barkley on their roster.

NFL Network originally reported that the two teams would swap first-round picks as part of the deal, but that is not the case.

Schefter was first with the report of the trade.
