Taylor Swift Reclaims Top Spot on “Celebs Gone Good” List

Taylor Swift is doing her hometown of Wyomissing proud. For the third year in a row, the pop star has earned the No. 1 spot on DoSomething.org‘s list of “Celebs Gone Good.”

The website, a nonprofit for youth and social change, ranks celebrities who use their star power to do some good in the world. Swift is recognized because, “she moved to New York, had a feminist awakening, dropped her country roots, released the pop album 1989, and donated all proceeds from the sale of her single “Welcome to New York” to New York City Public Schools.”

Joining Swift in the top five is actress and trans activist Laverne Cox, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and Emma Watson.

Penn alum John Legend clocked in at No. 11 for his music video “You and I.” It featured a host of diverse women (including the above mentioned Laverne Cox), and raised $495,000 dollars for #OperationGirl Charity Challenge, a campaign for charities focused on women and girls. They don’t mention it here, but Legend also made do-gooder headlines recently when he ordered a caravan of food trucks to feed hungry Ferguson protesters in New York City. And he’s only No. 11?!
