PW Reader Ring: Brittany & Dale!

Brittany's ring!

Brittany’s ring!

The couple: Brittany Casee and Dale Schlegel from Northeast Philly.

The ring: My ring is a diamond solitaire in a white-gold cathedral setting with a twisted shank. It also has a hidden infinity symbol and small diamond on each side.

The ring is custom designed from Steven Singer Jewelers—I think of it as a beautifully classic style with a slightly modern twist! We had gone ring shopping once before and Dale had made note of what I liked and had this made incorporating all of those ideas.

The proposal: One day, Dale told me that he had won a private tour of Citizens Bank Park in a silent auction at his work. The tour was set for a Saturday that I was scheduled to work—but Dale secretly called my boss and convinced her to tell me that they were “cutting hours” that day and didn’t need me to come in! I loved having the day off and was excited to go on the tour of the ballpark. We are just Philly sports fans!

On the day of, I thought Well, we are just doing a tour of the ballpark, I’ll wear something comfy. So I threw on yoga pants and a hoodie with my favorite sneaks and was “ready” to go. When my mom saw what I was wearing, she texted Dale and told him that he needed to figure out a way to make me change! He called me and told me that we would go to dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant, Maggiano’s, after the tour. Without suspecting anything (clearly, too distracted by the thought of a great day ahead of me), I changed into something cuter and fixed my hair and makeup.

We arrived at Citizens Bank Park to meet our tour guide. We toured the entire facility, including the locker room, media room and batting cages. Our next stop was the dugout, and Dale had given the tour guide his camera to take pictures of us along the way. We stepped up to the On-Deck circle, and our guide snapped two pictures before Dale dropped to his knee! Apparently, he had planned a beautiful speech but when the moment arrived, everything turned to tears and emotion. He was able to get out, “I love you more than anything. Will you marry me?” to which I responded an emphatic, “Absolutely!”

After hugs and kisses, our families came running out of the dugout to congratulate us! They had been hiding in the media room (after we left there) waiting for their cue. I had no idea, and was thrilled to have all of the most important people there to celebrate with us.

The band: My wedding band will also be custom designed from Steven Singer and will be a twisted shank in white gold with small diamonds in each twist.
