David Lynch Offers Teeny Hints About New Twin Peaks

In typical David Lynch fashion the, the PAFA-trained auteur is keeping mostly mum about the return of Twin Peaks in 2016. (“I’m not talking about Twin Peaks now. Not until 2016.”) He did, however drop a few nuggets in an interview with Agenda magazine. Here’s what we’ve got:

He says the enthusiasm greeting its return is “beautiful. I like the world [created in Twin Peaks], too. Somehow back then ideas came and a world was made. It’s great that people like that world and want to go back into it.” And he indicates that the show’s move to pay cable doesn’t mean it’s going to go full-on raunch: “We had freedom on Twin Peaks. Way more than you imagine. I don’t know how it happened, but there were hardly any restrictions. So it’s not like we’re saying now: ‘Oh boy, we’re gonna really do some raunchy things.’ We’re gonna do the same things, but in better quality. And film remains the best quality.”

David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks will return for a 9-episode run in 2016. The miniseries will air on Showtime, 25 years after it’s original run on ABC.
