Philly Expected to Survive DNC Cutdown This Week

The Pennsylvania delegation was in the middle of action at the 20000 Democratic National Convention.

Philadelphia expects to be one of three finalists to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention, the Morning Call reports this morning. The other two remaining competitors? New York City — you know, the place with the bedbugs — and Columbus, Ohio.

That news emerged from a Monday meeting where Philly officials attempted to raise $5 million from 25 Democratic donors as proof the city can raise the $100 million needed to stage the convention.

“There were a lot of people in the room,” said former Governor Ed Rendell, “and a lot of people made significant commitments.”

The godfather of the movement, of course, is Congressman Bob Brady, a Philly Democrat.

“I’ve had conversations, and will have more conversations with [DNC Chairwoman] Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” Brady told the paper. “She is my friend for many years. I’m politicking my little butt off to get this done.”
