Yes, Philadelphia has a furry dance party, and yes, it’s happening this weekend at Tabu. Slip into your plushest animal costume and throw your paws up to the sounds of DJ protocollie and a performance by Cara Kouture. Rawr!
- Stimulus’s Black and White Party brings together folks from the community for a sexy autumnal shebang. Voyeur will be packed with go-go dancers, shot girls, scene-snapping photographers and smokin’ hot lesbians out the yang. DJs Jovi Baby, Precolumbian and Deluxx will be spinning. Wear black and white to jive with the theme.
- Study up on your gay hanky code before hitting up NSFW Dance Party‘s Hanky Panky. Guests are asked to stuff a handkerchief into their back pocket that signifies what they’re looking for that evening. Here’s a pretty detailed chart so you’ll know what color means what.
SATURDAY: SERIOUS DISCUSSION, AND A NIGHT FREE TO EXPLORE
- “We’re Here, We’re Queer, We’re Used To It.” That’s the chant you’ll hear coming from William Way Saturday, when the Center hosts a State of Young Philly event. William Way’s Mike Kaiser tells me “The goal of the meetup is to check the pulse of young LGBT Philadelphians and provide an opportunity for us to share experiences with our peers.” The open-dialogue session will cover topics ranging from acceptance/coming out in your workplace or career and the future of LGBT leadership in Philadelphia to the changing roles of local community spaces.
SUNDAY: BRUNCHIN’ AND SINGIN’
- A drag brunch at Tabu hosted by The Three Muskequeers: Mistor Fahrenheit, Lili StQueer and Eric Jaffe.
- Cap off your weekend with Sing Your Life’s 2000s karaoke, in honor of Karen O’s birthday.
MONDAY: FLASHBACK!
- Donald Harrison and R. Eric Thomas host Light the Lights!, an evening of 80s-themed tunes—from pop to Broadway to cult classics. Singers include Rachel Pinkstone, Ryan Wyrofsky and Chris Newcomer.
