PHOTOS: “When I Was Young” LGBT Variety Hour at Tabu
Last night The Spruce Foundation gathered LGBT youth at Tabu Sports Bar and Lounge for a variety show filled with drag, a mentalist, spoken word and even some musical numbers. The evening was done in conjunction with the Kimmel Center’s weeklong It Gets Better Project residency.
Though the event was short, it was jam-packed with dynamic, commanding performances. Aida BummCake stole the evening with her burlesque performance of “Let it Go,” equating it to her own experiences growing up gay. Other performers included Yashi McGowen, delivering an emotional and uplifting poem, and Justin Relkin, who guessed the color of women’s underwear. All in all an enjoyable night at Tabu for a good cause. Check out some photos I snapped below:
