Bill Cosby to Lend Art Collection to the Smithsonian

The legendary Bill Cosby has agreed to loan his personal art collection to the Smithsonian Museum according to a new report from CBS News.

Cosby and his wife’s extensive private collection will be part of a new Smithsonian exhibit that plans to juxtapose African-American art with African art. The Cosby collection “includes works by such leading African-American artists as Beauford Delaney, Faith Ringgold, Jacob Lawrence, Augusta Savage and Henry Ossawa Tanner. [The] 300 African-American paintings, prints, sculptures and drawings has never been loaned or seen publicly, except for one work of art,” according to the report.

For those interested in seeing the collection for themselves, it will be part of “Conversations: African and African-American Artworks in Dialogue” at the Washington, D.C. museum from November 9 through early 2016. For more information on the Smithsonian, click here.
