There’s bad news on the doorstep for residents of Saratoga Springs, New York as Don McLean has clarified that he wrote “American Pie” in Philadelphia. Popular lore held tales of McLean drunkenly scribbling lyrics on bar napkins inside the Tin and Lint in Saratoga Springs.
