What a Saturday
We usually post our Weekend picks on Friday but with the sheer number of events happening this Saturday we thought it would be best to give everyone a head-start on planning their weekend.
The PIFA Street Fair will convert Broad Street between Lombard and Chestnut into a festival of the arts. There will be a giant Ferris wheel, two stages, street performers, aerial acrobats and more than 40 food vendors.
On East Passyunk, Flavors of the Avenue will be featuring the food of twenty establishments showcasing all the great food available on the Avenue. Hopefully you have your tickets as we were really impressed with the food offered at the preview event. Advanced tickets are sold out but a few will be available at the door starting at 11 a.m.
Another outdoor festival will be happening on Grays Ferry Avenue near 23rd and South Streets. Plaza Palooza will celebrate Spring and the Grays Ferry Triangles with live music, deals from local businesses and beer from Grace Tavern.
Across the river in Maple Shade the Beer Lass’s Saizanne beer will debut at Iron Hill Brewery. The beer is a saison brewed with pink and green peppercorns. Suzanne Woods and her brewer boyfriend are making a ice cream to pair with the beer. Tapping happens at noon.
In Northern Liberties P.Y.T. is hosting a Cupcake Smash to benefit Philabundance. Amateur and professional bakers will be competing to create a cupcake inspired by Tommy Up’s menu. The contest runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and tickets are available online.
As if all of that wasn’t enough the Flyers are playing the Bruins at 3 p.m.
