I usually reserve weekend event posts for Fridays, but wanted to go ahead and get this one on your radar. Tomorrow night, Friday, May 9th, a group of Philly funny people are putting on a standup show to raise money for out comedian Gina Stitzer, who was recently diagnosed with bone cancer.

Among those taking part is G Philly favorite Julia Scotti, who you may remember as one of our LGBT Six-Word Memoirists, and recent record-breaker for first trans comedian to get a multi-date gig at the Borgata. She’ll be joined by Chip Chantry, 2013 Philly’s Phunniest winner; National Comedy Competition champion Chris Coccia; and Rain Pryor, who is, yes, you guessed it, the daughter of the late, great Richard Pryor.

Gina is currently being treated at a hospital in Pottstown, and friends say she has vowed to fight back and beat the disease. So go rally in support tomorrow night, when the show, called Gina’s Fight Night, goes on at 9 p.m. at Comedy Cabaret (11580 Roosevelt Boulevard.) To make reservations, call 215-676-5653. For now, watch Stitzer in action in the video below.
