Every week, Philly gay gents share their local picks for Man Crush Monday. This week, Philly Mag contributor and all-around opera gay Bryan Buttler.

Bryan Buttler
When I was asked to come up with my #MCM picks, I was going to select wild, crazy fantasy dudes. That was curbed when I was told everyone had to be local. So, here’s a toast to making things utterly awkward the next time I pass one of these guys on Walnut Street.

Ethan Blades
I met Ethan while working on a piece about an ActionAIDS benefit he was coordinating. I’ve subsequently been at several events with him. Besides being handsome as anything, he always takes the time to introduce me to his co-workers and friends, which makes him a total gentleman in my book.

Yannick Nezet-Seguin
I am totally an opera and classical music freak, and Yannick, the chief conductor and music director of The Philadelphia Orchestra, is the epitome of what I find to be sexy: He’s insanely talented, super attractive, and if you’ve seen him lead an orchestra, his passion is indescribable. Oh, and he can rock a little black suit like nobody’s business.

“Straight” Starbucks Barista
This barista, who floats between several different Starbucks locations, has talked about a girlfriend in the past, but I’m not so sure about all that. Lately he greets me by saying, “Hey, Baby!” And the kicker is that he constantly compliments me on my columns for G Philly. I’ll take a venti cup of that any day, thank you very much.

Warren Hoffman
Warren is one of the smartest people I know, and that alone is sexy as all heck. We met several years ago, and most recently I profiled his new book, The Great White Way, for G Philly. (I’m even giving him a shameless plug!) He’s a great writer, a smart speaker, and can reference Elaine Stritch flawlessly.

Eric Thomas and Antoine Martinez-Jones, Philadelphia Theater Company Martini Thursday Co-Hosts
My pal Eric Thomas has a creative and totally twisted mind, and I love it. Whenever I have an artistic quandary, he gives the most profound/sassy advice. He recently teamed up with Philadelphia Theater Company, and cute-as-a-button (and musically talented) bartender Antoine Martinez-Jones to host Martini Thursdays at the theater. The environment they’ve created is awesome — it feels like home. Plus, nothing beats getting tipsy on a Thursday so you can start contemplating your next #MCM picks (while possibly meeting some new ones to add to your list.)
