Johnny Doc Returns to Port Authority Board
In what he says is a “short-term” appointment, John Dougherty has returned to the board of the Delaware River Port Authority. The IBEW Local 98 business manager is the designee of Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale.
Could Johnny Doc’s appointment lead to some fun political brouhahas? The Inquirer‘s Paul Nussbaum writes of clashes during his prior stint on the DRPA:
He warred publicly with [then]-DRPA chief executive John Matheussen, calling for his resignation, and he urged the DRPA to try to sell PATCO, its tollpayer-subsidized commuter rail subsidiary. […] “During his previous service on the DRPA board, Dougherty helped initiate internal reforms that still need to be fully implemented,” DePasquale said in a statement.
Let the fireworks fly! Or not, I dunno. In a statement, Johnny Doc mentioned he doesn’t want to raise tolls.
